On Thursday the 1st of November, as a celebration of our ‘Art Through the Ages’ theme for Art Week, the Lower Campus Sports Hall was transformed into a chic art gallery. With collaborative pieces and individual work all the way from Nursery to Year 6, every Primary child was represented in this celebration of hard work and talent.
Some of the pieces included geodes made by Nursery and a toilet roll, a masking tape version of the Roman Colosseum by Reception, all the way to a giant sculpture called ‘Foiler’ created by 5C. Parents and students were invited throughout the day to view the pieces. It was great to see the children showing off their own work, as well as the work of their siblings and friends. An addition to this year’s exhibition was an opinions box on display throughout the day.
Students were encouraged to choose their favourite pieces and give a reason why. Some of the favourites were the Year 6 fashion pieces and the interpretation of Takashi Murakami’s Me and Mr DOB, as well as the fantastic sculptures in Year 5, based on artists such as Henry Moore.
