Recently, students of ISM Lower Campus wandered through a universe of literature for a whole week of celebrations. The children were delighted to spend time getting to know their favourite books in more detail than ever before. It was a joy to see so many children absorbed in the world of books!

Book Week's theme of Old Worlds, New Worlds and Other Worlds let teachers' imaginations run wild and led each class on an exciting adventure. From the very first morning, children took part in activities designed to get them thinking in more detail and exploring some of their favourite books from a new perspective.

In Year Three, children boarded the Hogwarts Express and spent the week learning best wizard practices. They made their own wands, cast some spells and even played Quidditch. In Year Two, some children created their worlds to live in, while others focused on the fascinating world of The BFG. Children in Year Four concentrated on designing their perfect treehouse inspired by The 13 Storey Treehouse, while Year One students went down the rabbit hole to Wonderland and enjoyed a cup of tea with the Mad Hatter and Alice. In Early Years, children immersed themselves in the atmosphere of a dark wood and even got to meet a talking wolf from Little Red Riding Hood.

There was also plenty of reading taking place throughout the week. The experience of seeing children hanging on every word of a new book was truly magical. A fantastic dress-up day, when students came as one of their favourite characters from books, marked the culmination of the week, and children loved guessing who their teachers and friends were. One thing is for sure - Lower Campus students have an enthusiasm for reading that will endure well beyond our week of celebration.
