The role will include:
- Acting as a first port of call for all communication with the Principal, especially from parents, staff and outside agencies
- Marketing the school to others, and working with the school’s marketing team to produce high quality external output
- Meeting and greeting visitors to the school
- Arranging the programme for all external visits, in liaison with the Events Manager
- Liaising with all other administration staff in the school, and the school’s ancillary staff, such as drivers, to enhance the school’s efficiency in all its operations
- Managing the Principal’s diary and all correspondence, whether in paper or electronic form
- Coordinating and minuting meetings as appropriate, including meetings of the Senior Leadership Team and disciplinary meetings should they occur
- Taking responsibility for the coordination of staff housing and related issues
The candidate appointed will have:
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbally and in writing, and excellent personal presentation
- Strong ability to work independently and proactively
- A clear understanding of the importance of the role in marketing the school
- Very good ICT skills, especially in Word and Excel, and the ability to take accurate minutes
- Excellent organization and the ability to meet deadlines, which are occasionally very short
- Absolute discretion and confidentiality in all matters (any revelation of confidential or indiscrete information would lead to instant dismissal)
- A desire for self-improvement and the willingness to work outside the comfort zone to develop further
- A good sense of perspective and humour
- Ability to communicate in Chinese (highly desirable but not essential)

Normal hours of work are 8 am to 5 pm with 15 days annual leave, but this may be negotiable with the appropriate candidate (i.e. should additional holiday leave be requested to meet family circumstances).
If the applicants are expat staff, applicants must be able to meet the Chinese visa requirements i.e. normally hold a Bachelor’s degree and have two years’ work experience, preferably in education, or already hold a work visa.
