I am a BA honors graduate in Development Studies from Nkumba University in Uganda and a Master’s degree in Human Resource Management from the same institution. After a career spanning 15 years in banking, I moved to Uganda where I worked as an Administrative Assistant at the International School of Uganda for 9 years. During this time, I developed an interest in teaching and the school sponsored my first online Primary International Baccalaureate training.
My family moved to British Colombia in Vancouver for two years where I worked as a volunteer in The Fraser Institute before moving for Beijing in 2016. In 2017, I gained my TESOL certification with Arizona State University and began working as a supply teacher in various international schools in Beijing, including BSB Shunyi. I then completed a teacher certification course through Moreland University in Washington, DC and have spent the past two years teaching in different roles in international schools in Beijing. I feel extremely privileged to be part of the great team of educators in BSB Shunyi starting in September 2021 and look forward to having a wonderful year of exciting learning with my Year 5 students.
My desire is to inspire and nurture a lifelong love and desire for learning in my students and to communicate that any aspiration or goals they have are valid and attainable. I will always encourage them to set high achievable standards for themselves, strive to reach their potential and to understand that while they are ultimately accountable for choices they make, my responsibility is to support and guide them in making the right decisions/choices. I am living in Beijing with my husband who is also an educator, a proud mother of two, Paul, a pilot and Ian, an IT guru with Microsoft. I love cooking and making new friends.
