Just over a week ago, eight of our students from the NAIS Manila MUN Team, along with 130 other student delegates, joined the first-ever Singapore School Model United Nations and Congress.
This unique MUN was the first to feature domestic committees and a ‘personal coach’ system.
SSMUNC 2019 created a safe environment for beginner delegates and allowed everyone to grow to their full potential during the two-day event.
The prestigious ‘Best Delegate’ was awarded to Marcus for his enormous contribution to the EU committee. Although he was one of the youngest at the conference, Marcus did not hesitate to challenge the views of his fellow delegates by asking intriguing POI’s and participating well in debate.
Joni was awarded an ‘Honorable Mention’ for her participation and achievements during the full summit and crisis caucus. Joni confidently discussed topics like the issue of extrajudicial killings, and preventing radicalism and extremism in the Middle East.
Our MUN Student Leaders, Lia and Angelina, coordinated and helped organise the event with the Secretariat of SSM as well as the MUN committees of the participating schools.
SSMUNC truly allowed the students to express themselves freely and was a great opportunity for first-time delegates to develop their public speaking skills, as well as test their abilities to research a topic, and understand the issues around the world.
