Juilliard Collaboration Strengthens Performing Arts at NAIS Manila
Creative confidence, collaboration, and expression took centre stage at NAIS Manila as we welcomed Stephanie Cunningham, Juilliard Drama Curriculum Specialist from New York City. Her visit brought the Juilliard approach to life across classrooms and rehearsals, working with students and teachers to deepen how drama supports creativity, communication, and performance.

Bringing the Juilliard Approach into Learning
Through lesson demonstrations and classroom observations with Year 5 and Year 7, students experienced drama as an active, collaborative process. Activities focused on ensemble work, character exploration, and creative decision-making, strengthening confidence and expressive skills. Students were encouraged to share ideas, respond to one another, and take creative risks, key habits that support both performance and learning.

Supporting Student Production and Performance
Stephanie also worked closely with NAIS Manila’s student production team in a focused session exploring stagecraft, collaboration, and performance development. These sessions strengthened students’ understanding of how creative choices, teamwork, and rehearsal processes shape successful productions, giving practical insight into the performing arts beyond the classroom.
Professional Learning for Teachers
Alongside student sessions, Stephanie led professional learning with our Performing Arts teachers, exploring how the Juilliard curriculum framework supports creativity and artistic growth across age groups. This collaboration continues to strengthen teaching practice and enrich performing arts learning across the school.
