06 November 2013

This week the children have been mapping!

  • Sandpit students used to create a map.
  • Children reading their poems to the class.

After using their drawing skills to create birds-eye views in the classroom, children used a grid to map the journey of Mrs. Armitage. Children were able to say where different features of the map were located using grid references. Children also used the sand pit and sand tray to create a 3D landscape for her to ride across.

As part of our continuing topic on transport, children read a range of transport poems, identified the rhyming words and patterns then used their drama skills to recite one as a group. Children were also able to make constructive comments about each other’s performances.

In maths children have been adding three numbers together using any known methods and any
available equipment.  They have also been doubling, halving and finding the opposite of adding by using the inverse operation or subtraction. Such a lot of challenging work!
