Temple fair

  • Temple fair Feb 2018

Dear Parents

The British School of Beijing (BSB) Shunyi’s Mandarin Department and Parents’ Association are very busy organising our upcoming event which we are very pleased to give you information about.

Our amazing Temple Fair at BSB to celebrate Spring Festival and the Year of the Dog will take place from 9am to 4pm on Thursday 8th February. We hope children, staff and parents will enjoy the day and we would like the students to dress in Chinese costume or wear something red if possible. There will be colourful activities and plenty of traditional art, crafts and snacks (please see details in the document below) for the children to see and buy from vendors.

Our CNY performance will take place from 4 to 6pm on Thursday 8th February in the theatre and parents are invited to the performance gala. Please note that if your child are performing or watching the CNY performance who will not take their regular school bus home, you must inform our bus office for cancellation and parents are responsible to make your own arrangement of transport home. Also, lots of fun and interactive activities with traditional arts and craft will create a wonderful New Year atmosphere.

Children in Primary and Secondary will be timetabled to visit the Temple Fair with their class teacher and TA during the day. There will be opportunities for them to buy things so please discuss this with your child/ren and explain that is a little similar to Santa’s Secret Shoppe where they choose what they want to buy, pay and get change. Older children will help younger children with this. Please put some money with your child’s name and class printed on the envelope with a range of notes (5, 10, 20RMB) to a maximum of 200RMB. They can then enjoy the traditional food on offer and participate in lots of fun Chinese activities.

Secondary students will also visit the fair throughout the day, so please provide them with some money to enjoy the Temple Fair.  We’ve increased to 30 vendors this year and they will donate 500RMB per table to the school for charity and we will limit our vendor’s price to no more than 50RMB per product.

Vendors will remain at school until about 4pm so parents please come and visit during the day.

We hope everyone enjoys the day. For further queries please contact me.

Kind regards,
