Empowering students as financially literate and socially consciousness global citizens, the Social Entreprepreneurship Camp equips students to lead professional productive lives and inspires them to help people in need.
The Social Entrepreneurship Camp will be held at the school from March 16-20, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day. The camp costs $450 for the week, and is open to students in Years 5-8.
Campers are immersed in the essentials of entrepreneurship, loans, and philanthropy through a series of practice-based activities and site visits to successful businesses and charitable organization. Camp counselors and executives from influential companies mentor the teams as they take their business plans from idea to final presentation.
One Hen Inc. is a Massachusetts organization that provides resources that enable youth from around the world to learn about personal initiative, financial literacy, global awareness, and giving back.
One Hen’s young entrepreneurs are changing the world by using business to address social needs. The Social Entrepreneurship Camp being offered at BISB gives youth the business skills, social consciousness, and confidence to become change agents in their communities and around the world.
During the One Hen camp, students will:
• Explore what entrepreneurship means and what makes a business a social enterprise
• Explore the missions of different non-profits and identify what causes they most connect with
• Learn about lending and borrowing
• Plan product ideas, business names, and branding
• Engage in a simulated marketplace for buying/selling products
• Learn how to develop a marketing strategy for their business ideas
Through these experiences, students will grow to be more globally aware and conscientious in managing money and making socially beneficial life choices.
