This has been a tremendous week for children sharing their learning with their parents in the Primary School. We have had piano recital music lessons, a Year 3 recorder concert, a ‘pop-in’ for Years 1 to 6 and Early Years sports day. On top of this, we have also shared news of our residential programs this week and a Year 6 transition evening too. All this whilst the children have been completing their end of term assessments to help us track their progress.
Many thanks to all of you who attended these opportunities, it was wonderful to see the children engaging in their learning and proudly sharing their work with you. We hope you found this an equally rewarding experience.
Whilst we are still fully focused on children’s learning we are beginning to have a brief look into the next academic year to strategically plan the development of the Primary School.
With our controlled and planned expansion we are pleased to announce the opening of a third Year 1 class for the academic year 2017-2018. The transition from our Early Years Centre into Year 1 has already begun with discussions between Ms. Pickering, Mrs. Newson, Mr. Brown and myself. With a focus on children’s well-being, personal development and their next steps in learning, we want to ensure we are supporting the children as much as possible to be happy and successful learners.
One of the many changes will be the addition of an outdoor learning space for Year 1. This will have elements of the Early Years practice that are both familiar and highly beneficial to the children. This will help children settle into their new environment and transition onto the Year 1 curriculum with increased success. Over the coming months, you may begin to see these changes outside the Year 1 rooms as we begin our redevelopment.
Once again, many thanks to everyone who attended our events in school this week. Your support for the school community is greatly appreciated.
For those of you who are attending the gala dinner on Saturday, I look forward to sharing an enjoyable evening with you.
Wishing you all a wonderful, restful weekend in preparation for Book Week next week!
