Key Stage 2 Make Waves at Római

05 May 2017

Over 250 Key Stage 2 students descended on the Római Tenisz Akademia Swimming Pool last Tuesday and Wednesday for the annual Swimming Gala.  In a change to the format of recent years, students competed both individually and inter-house across six different disciplines; Backstroke, Breaststroke and Freestyle all with and without kickboards.

Year 5 and 6 kicked off the week in style on Tuesday with some extremely fast swim times and very close finishes.  The inter-house relays proved to be the perfect finish to the afternoon and epitomised the high standard of swimming in the Primary School.  An action-packed Wednesday morning saw Years 3 and 4 dip their wee toes in water with more than 55 races on offer.  It’s safe to say Swimming has a bright future at BISB having witnessed the courage and confidence shown by all our young athletes.

Calculating the time-based placings meant students were left eagerly anticipating the results until the medal presentations at BISB on Wednesday and Friday.  Along with the individual prizes and certificates, Calypso house (blue) were crowned Swimming Gala Champions for Years 3 and 4 whilst Discovery house (green) took the title in Years 5 and 6.

Thank you to those who supported or attended the Galas this year and in particular, thanks to the Year 9 sports leaders, Miki Mátrai, Péter Rónaszéki and Tamás Fekete for their specialist AV, Photography and Marketing input respectively.
