Examination Results 2017

29 August 2017

The British International School Budapest is proud of its 25 year history. Once again in this special commemorative year the students and staff are celebrating an improvement in the results achieved by students in their International Baccalaureate Diploma, IGCSE and GCSE results.

  • Graduation Ceremony

The IB Diploma results remain extremely strong, with the average points score at over 33, significantly higher than the world average of 29.9. Nearly 14% of the Class of 2017 achieved Diplomas worth 40 points or more, compared with 8.6% last year, a significant and excellent improvement. The graduating students have been placed in top quality universities around the world, with 12.5% in the world’s top 50 universities.

IGCSE and GCSE results were outstanding, with 43% of grades being at the top levels of A and A*, compared with 30% last year. The best performing students gained straight A*s with several others gaining all A* and A grades. The overall number of students achieving 5 or more GCSEs at C or above rose from 78% last year to 85.4% this year, outstripping the UK national average of 20% by some distance.

Mr Richard Dyer, Principal at BISB was delighted with the results, ‘Congratulations must go to our Year 11 and 13 classes of 2017 with these first-rate results. At BISB we teach our children to nurture ambition and clearly these students and their teachers have followed this motto and done an outstanding job.’

Mr Benjamin Turner, Head of Secondary was also thrilled with the results, ‘We wish all our students moving on to their exciting new challenges of Sixth Form or University the best of luck. We hope they will continue to aspire to excellence in all they do in the future.’
