Each expedition member has pledged to raise 350 Euros, in order to buy materials such as wood and nails, which will be used by the students to make goat-sheds and school desks for families in the villages of Kitefu and Imbaseni. The expedition team are working on a number of fund-raising activities such as bake sales and ticket sales of BISB’s A Doll’s House play. However, the team’s next big event will be to Conquer Kilimanjaro!
How can you help? Tanzania Expedition students will attempt to climb the equivalent of Africa’s tallest mountain, Kilimanjaro, on Saturday 19th January at BISB. The students will cover a distance of 5,895 metres (19,341 ft) by completing a triathlon of activities such as going up and down the stairs in the school building, skipping and running. You can sponsor them by agreeing to make a small donation for each 500m climbed. You may also give a bonus for completing the whole distance.
So please, if you are approached by one of our polite students asking for sponsorship, help them to reach our target of raising 2 million HUF.
Kind regards,
Nikki Uhure, James Beadle, Andrea Máté-Klátyik and the Tanzania 2019 crew.
