The European Day of Languages

Last week, we celebrated Languages Week across the whole school. Students in Secondary experienced a languages themed assembly to celebrate the European Day of Languages. This reinforced why languages are so important and how we can all make steps towards excellence in our additional language learning. In tutor groups students were given the opportunity to try out a different language based activity each day of the week. Kontiki House came top in the Hispanic Quiz day on Tuesday with Kontiki 10 and 11 both winning prizes. The Mandarin activity also proved popular, especially with Mr Randall who was pleased to show off his knowledge of Chinese culture. In Year 6 French lessons, the children were making videos and posters in French to celebrate their home languages and cultures. The whole week was a wonderful celebration of our diversity as a school!
