2019 Mathematics Week in Secondary
Monday got off to a thrilling start with the launch of the Code Breaking competition. Entries have flown in from parents and students. The level of ingenuity shown has been outstanding. The winners of each category will be announced at the beginning of next week, along with the solution to each of the codes. At the time of writing, the final code is still to be cracked!
Our students have enthusiastically been involved in a wide range of activities, including lunchtime relays, tangrams, multi-link activities and mathematical puzzles. Various members of the Mathematics department were filmed demonstrating their favourite problem. These films have been shown to students during morning registrations. The House Mathematics Relay competition has made a comeback this year, with teams of students racing up and down various classrooms in their eagerness to solve a myriad of mathematical problems.
Tuesday and Wednesday saw a continuation of our ‘Lessons for Parents’, with both an IGCSE and Year 7 style lesson taking place. Many thanks to all of you who threw yourselves into the challenge. There where some highly impressive solutions demonstrated for various problems.
We hope it has been an enjoyable week for all students and parents involved – it has certainly been a lot of fun for us to run!
