Students' in Mr Moruzzi’s Year 7 Maths class have recently been investigating the differences between 2-D polygons and 3-D polyhedra. Having considered area and perimeter prior to the Easter break, this week they have been calculating the volume, specifically of prisms. Mr Moruzzi set them the challenge of finding a prism at home, measuring its key dimensions, and then calculating its volume. Application of rounding to a correct number of decimal places or significant figures was also a key part to their final answer given the complexity of using pi. You can see some examples of the work here.
