Year 6 Poetry Study

Recently Year 6 students were set the following task around the poem ‘The Raven’.

‘Imagine our speaker is retelling what happened that night in an email to a friend or family member. Write the email, using modern language, to explain what happened, what his thoughts and feelings are, before and after the bird arriving.’

The students have also been asked to analyse the effects of a dramatisation of ‘The Raven’, focusing on the music, the set design, the actor’s expression & voice and the camera angles used by the director.

Some of the students’ work can be found below and are really good efforts especially for those for whom English is not their first language. Well done.
