Welcome to the 2018-19 Academic Year! I wish to use this week’s Blog post to give a very warm welcome to the entire school community to the 2018-19 Academic year.
Monday was a special day for us all as we welcomed the children back into the school building and caught up on all the exciting news from the summer vacation. It was lovely to see so many happy faces and to see the look of excitement and joy on the faces of the children as they settled into their new class/year group.
On Monday morning we had a special assembly for Years 1-6 in which we welcomed all of the new students and staff into our community. I know that any new beginning can be a scary prospect, but I must give credit to the way that the children quickly settled into their new surroundings and immediately demonstrated their intent to ‘live and breathe’ the values that make us such an effective community of learners. Mrs. Gallo had a special surprise for us all, as she launched the ‘life sized’ cut outs of our 8 Goal Squad characters, who are now spread across the school campus to remind us all of the values and attributes that are such an integral part of the BISC-LP community.
I know that Monday was a particularly emotional day for many of our parents as you said ‘goodbye’ to your child for the start of the year. Please know that we are also here to support you and are happy to support your transition into the new school year as much as possible. Our parent survey results from last year were overwhelmingly positive, particularly with regards to our children feeling happy, safe and secure in our school environment (99% approval) so we thank you for continuing to trust us with the social, academic and emotional development of your child.
I look forward to sharing our mission of “An ever-evolving experience for ever-evolving learners” with you over the forthcoming academic year.
