The British School of Chicago held our second Music Week last week!
On Tuesday we had Tom McGettrrick and Emily Granger from the Chicago Harp quartet come and give students from Year 2-13 a harp and banjo workshop. Some of the elder students got one-on-one time with these professionals because they played similar instruments or because they are composition students expanding their understanding of different instruments. All students got to listen to these wonderful instruments and professionals, learn about techniques and have a go.
On Wednesday we held the second BSC recital with performances from students in Year 2-13 and on Thursday students in the secondary school had the opportunity to take part in a workshop with professional singer/songwriter Steven Dawson.
It's amazing to think that in one term our students from Year 2-13 have taken part in ukulele, harp, banjo, flute and songwriting workshops, as well as two recitals! Keep following us on Twitter (@MusicatBSC) for links to video footage and recordings, many pictures, and dates of upcoming events. See you all at the holiday concert(s)!
