Nord Anglia Comic Book Competition

  • Nord Anglia Comic Book Competition

North Broward Preparatory School participated in the Nord Anglia Comic Book Competition. Students had to create a comic addressing the core issues in the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, consider what this means to them, and develop an accompanying comic using an inspirational quote to help highlight their thoughts.The Competition takes inspiration from Zen Pencils, where author Gavin Aung Than uses famous quotes to develop meaningful storylines for his comics. It was a fantastic, creative opportunity for students to unpack these core issues and visually address what they mean to them.  North Broward Preparatory School received over 25 student entries in the middle and upper school. Aaron Adler’s piece titled “Wings” was selected to represent the 14-18 age category. While Linda Tutor’s piece titled “Living” was selected to represent the 11-14 age category.

This was a wonderful learning opportunity for students to reflect on the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child. In addition students enhanced their visual storytelling skills as they were tasked with creating a sequential visual narrative or single image that would best tell their story. All the pieces were created using digital art techniques on Adobe Photoshop using Wacom tablets. In the end this was a very successful project for the school and we hope to participate again next year.
