Congratulations to the talented Vito Geraci (7th Grade NB Fine Arts student) for being selected as one of the TOP TEN finalists in The Earth Day Contest sponsored by WPLG Local 10 and Publix. Vito is one of many artists from Monroe, Dade, and Broward counties that submitted their own original artwork with an environmental theme. Vito’s entry “Atlas Begs” is a stunning sculpture that was inspired by “The MY Green Footprint” project and depicts Atlas struggling to hold the weight of the world on his shoulders. Atlas is brought to his knees begging us to stop destroying our world. This sculpture was produced entirely from materials that can be recycled.
The Local 10 community will have the opportunity from April 8 until 11:59 p.m. on April 15 to vote for their favorite work of art and decide who wins. You can cast one vote per valid and active email and IP address per day. The school with the eARTh Day work of art that receives the most votes wins. The winning school will be announced on Local 10 News on Earth Day, April 22, and will receive $4,500 to use toward art supplies. Click here to vote for Vito once voting opens.
