Sometimes parents are lost for inspiring ideas about the snacks they can put in their child’s snack box. So, what better way to help them out than by hosting a workshop on ‘Healthy Snacks for Children’. Tiffany Rowlands, a health coach, ran this workshop for parents at the Lakefront Campus this week to share ideas and recipes for healthy snacks for children; snacks that are perfect for home or a lunch box.
This workshop emphasised the importance of healthy eating for children. The parents learnt fun and easy recipes for super wholesome snacks that children will love to make and eat! Recipes included fruit kebabs, hummus, apple muffins, vegetable rainbow sticks, wraps, crispy tortillas and many more. The parents were amazed to see how simple it was to turn a humble cucumber and a celery stick into awesome and delightful snacks. The participants not only received a handout for the recipes but also were able to taste all the lovely creations.
The parents took away some simple yet exciting and inspiring ideas of what to give their child for snacks and also how to make healthy food choices, in particular knowing how to be selective when choosing packaged food by reading labels carefully.
