Before going to university, I decided to move to Beijing for a year to work as a Teaching Assistant at a British school. It was my first visit to China, and I fell in love with the country and travelling in Asia. I returned to the UK to train as a Speech and Language Therapist, completing my Bachelor’s Degree in Human Communication at De Montfort University. I then went on to do my PGCE at the University of Leicester, specialising in the Early Years Foundation Stage, as I enjoy working with young children, encouraging them to develop a love of learning from such an early age.
As a fully qualified teacher, I then took up my first international teaching position in Early Years at a British school in São Paulo, Brazil. I thoroughly enjoyed my time in South America and was lucky enough to visit some beautiful parts of the world during my time there. However, I had always wanted to return to China to teach, and decided that the British School of Guangzhou would be an excellent place to continue my teaching career. I am looking forward to working with such a dedicated team at BSG, and teaching the Nursery Hedgehogs this year.
When I am not teaching, I like to take my two dogs for long walks. I also enjoy reading, drawing, sightseeing, and have recently discovered a love for baking. I love to travel and see new and exciting things around the world. I am very much looking forward to exploring more of Guangzhou, China, and the rest of Asia during my time here.
