Assistant Head (Our Staff) & South Park Campus Manager

After completing my Zoology degree at the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne, I first worked in a school as a special needs teaching assistant. This initial experience inspired a passion for working with children and I began my PGCE to become a teacher as soon as possible working within Year 2 & 6 classes. Upon completion, I returned to the school which I had previously worked at but as a Year 5 teacher.

Now in my third year at the school, I am thrilled and excited to be able to take on the role of Assistant Head (Our Staff). I am particularly looking forward to the challenge of providing first class professional development opportunities for staff at the school in a constant drive to enable staff to give children the best possible learning experience.

As a child I grew up moving from country to country due to my father’s profession. It was during this time that I knew that I wanted to work abroad in whichever career I later found myself. After six years of teaching, I felt it was time to realise a dream and teach abroad. BSG is a thriving school with excellent facilities and an ambition to achieve success; all of which made the decision to move to Guangzhou an easy one.

I am here with my wonderful wife, Penny, who is teaching Art at the BSG. In my spare time, I have many interests, especially those involving technology, somewhat inspired by my love of fantasy and Science Fiction books and films. I also enjoy the comradery and competitiveness found in team sports and thus am a keen rugby and football player.
