I grew up in Birmingham, England but moved to Sheffield to study Media and Communications. After graduating with a BA (Hons), I moved to The Netherlands to work in the shipping industry. Whilst there, I met Justine who would later became my wife. Following a move to Australia, I retrained as a primary school teacher and obtained a BA in Teaching at the University of Western Sydney. A few years later I studied for a CELTA certificate (English for speakers of other languages). I taught for several years at schools in Australia before moving to Bhutan in the Himalayas, for a year, to teach as a volunteer.
I have spent the last 4 years teaching at International schools in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. I have taught all primary grades but the majority of my experience has been on grades 2 and 3. I am father to Thomas, Amelie and Lois who are all students at BSG Guangzhao. My wife Justine is a Year 6 teacher.
I enjoy travel and am looking forward to discovering more of China. I am currently learning to play the guitar and dearly wish I had learnt as a teenager. I think my new hobby will be learning to speak some Mandarin. I also think puns are a greatly underrated form of comedy.
