For the past four years, I was working as a Teacher of Mathematics in a challenging 11-18 comprehensive school in Stockport. I have varied experience of teaching the former and current GCSE specification, in addition to A-Level Mathematics. Furthermore, for two years I had the role of coordinating whole-school Numeracy and Literacy. Prior to this, I have worked in two other secondary schools in the UK, a secondary school in France and various summer camps across Italy. I graduated from University of Birmingham with a BA Hons in Mathematics and French Studies. Following this, I studied a Post Graduate Certificate in Education at University of Manchester.
I am thoroughly looking forward to undertaking a new challenge at British School of Guangzhou. Having spent some time in Hong Kong, I was intrigued by this different culture. I look forward to gaining to furthering my own professional development in a different environment and to expanding my pedagogical knowledge by teaching a wide range of students. I feel incredibly passionate about working with young adults, both in an academic and pastoral context.
I grew up in North East England and was always encouraged to explore from a young age. Inspired by my hard-working parents, I was a dedicated student and a focused individual. This has continued throughout by adult life. I am a keen runner and have participated in fifteen races in the past five months. I am looking forward to racing in two half-marathons in the December and have started training for a marathon in June 2018. The opportunities to explore China, and the surrounding area, excite me greatly. I feel very fortunate to have been offered this wondering opportunity.
