Business & Economics Teacher

I arrived in Guangzhou in July 2015 with my wife and children and immediately loved it. I took up a teaching post at South China Normal University lecturing in Economics and Business Studies. Prior to this appointment, I spent 8 years in the United Arab Emirates, where I was employed as a teacher of A Level and GCSE Economics and Business Studies at an outstanding international school. I have been privileged to work in fantastic schools and colleges both internationally and in my home country, and I am very much looking forward to working with the young minds of the future at BSG.

I became a teacher after many years in industry, working for state owned institutions in the Water Research industry investigating clean water options, before moving to the private sector and using my degree in Applied Biological Sciences to conduct R & D at Kings College London in leukemia research.

I hold an undergraduate degree in Applied Biotechnology, a PGCE and a Masters in Business Administration (MBA). Having worked in industry for a number of years, I chose to move into teaching as I had a passion for sharing knowledge.

I have two children; my eldest is at university in HK majoring in Physics and Material Sciences, having completed his GCSE and A Levels at school in Dubai. My youngest is currently making her final choices for her IB Diploma programme, which she will be completing in Guangzhou.

I have always loved this part of the world; my wife and I spent our honeymoon in Hong Kong a very long time ago (22 years and counting), and I have thoroughly enjoyed the past 2 years in Guangzhou re-exploring this region.
