Austin transferred into Village his senior year, but wasted no time in getting involved in everything he could! As the student body president, he demonstrated excellence in leadership and ensured that the lines of communication between students and the school were clear. He also participated in HYPE House, a club for showing support to Viking peers by growing excitement for and attending school activities in all different areas including theater productions, sporting events, music ensembles and more! During this year, he also played on the basketball team and understood the importance of being a student-athlete, prioritizing his excellence in the classroom above his other commitments.
Most notable of all his accomplishments at Village, however, was his unbridled passion for football and his incredible work ethic on the field. The leadership and enthusiasm he developed in other areas were great assets to his team during games. Austin was noticed by recruiters and an offer was extended for him to continue his education at The University of Texas at Austin, playing for the Texas Longhorns football team.
In a Hook 'Em Headlines article on the Viking, the author notes, "This 6-foot-5 and 225 pound Houston, TX, native and The Village School product was ranked as the No. 2,703 2019 high school prospect in the nation and the No. 114 tight end... What Hill brings to the table for Texas football is a tight end that has good size and strength to be a Power Five tight end. Hill joins a group of 2019 tight end signees for Texas that is very highly touted."
