Ty White My School My Story Profile

Future Scientist

The chess clock ticked as the seconds went by, counting down to his move. He watched his opponent slowly move a piece on the white and black board, then tap the clock, signaling his turn. He mapped out the moves in his head, so it took him no time at all to move his piece into position. “Checkmate,” was all he said. After receiving congratulations and shaking the hand of his opponent, he heads to the car to grab his cleats and a soccer ball. On to the next game

Ty W., a third grade student at The Village School, loves to play chess and soccer in his free time. But, while in school, he found his passion in the fields of math and science. His dream is to attend Duke University and major in Math and Science, which will allow him to explore a career as a scientist.
“Math and science are my favorite subjects because I’m able to present my findings, perform experiments and the subjects are very challenging,” Ty said.
Ty started his Village career in Kindergarten and quickly grew into a strong Village student. He enjoys having friends from all over the world and being part of an international community. When asked if he had any words of advice, he said: “be prepared and take 10 minutes a day to work on language arts and math.”
