With the reintroduction of Cross-Campus and external sport events and competitions at ISM the physical education department collaborated to bring the Festival of Sport to each campus.

Rosinka:

At The Rosinka campus our ‘Festival of sport’ kicked off with the much-anticipated Colour Run, students from Pre-Nursery all the way through to Year Six took turns running laps of our cross-country course that surrounded the school. At the end of the day, after crowning the Vikings our Colour Run champions, students and teachers took to the playground for a paint fight. Our next event was the Upper Primary Sports Day, where students from Years four, five and six competed for their House across different sporting activities. Throughout the sunshine filled day students worked hard to add to their House totals, and with the scores very close we entered the House relays. After a huge final effort the Romans were victorious in winning the cup.

In May we were fortunate enough to be invited to Luzhniki Stadium for an excellent Upper Primary Football tournament hosted by the Krylatskoe Campus. Our Year Five and Six students represented us with pride and went on to win the tournament.  The Krylatskoe PE team then invited us to yet another fantastic event, this time a Swimming Gala, inviting not only Rosinka Campus to attend but schools from around Moscow. The Upper Primary students competed head-to-head in different strokes and distances to gain points for their school. This event gave students the opportunity to experience elite competition from other schools and helped ignite their competitive spirit.

We then travelled to Krylatskoe with all of Years One, Two and Three to join the Lower Primary Sports Day. Hundreds of students from both campuses had great fun, collaborating in each activity they took part in. After a fantastic day the Saxons lifted the trophy as the victors.

On the 11thJune our Lower Primary Students convened yet again on the Lower Campus field this time to take part in a football tournament. With over 100 students participating, our students worked hard to prove themselves against students from each campus, with our Year One team winning the tournament and our Year Threes and Fours coming second and third respectively in theirs.

More recently, over 100 students travelled to ISM Rosinka to take part in the first-ever Primary outdoor Basketball Tournament. Students from all three ISM campuses took part in two tournaments. In the morning Year 4’s from Krylatskoe and Rosinka took to the courts, playing 32 games with ISM Krylatskoe proving victorious. The afternoon was split into two simultaneous tournaments, a Year 5 tournament and a Year 6 tournament. After two nail-biting finals that had the crowd on the edge of their seats, the Krylatskoe teams again proved successful in claiming gold.

Thank you to all the students, staff and parents who supported the Festival of Sport this term. It has been an action-packed time in PE, and this is just a sample of what is to come.

LC Krylatskoe:

It has been an incredibly busy couple of months on Lower Campus this year with our Festival of Sports. It all started with a bang when students from Nursery - Year 4, along with their parents who took part in an amazing and colourful ‘Colour Run’ to raise money for the Fond-Nike animal shelter.

Students of all ages and nationalities competed to complete as many laps as they could to donate to this wonderful charity. In total Lower Campus students took part in five exhilarating sporting events which included Sport days, Swimming, Football, Tennis and Basketball.

The competitions were held at a variety of venues such as Luzhniki Sports Stadium, Krylatskoe Velotrack, the Rosinka swimming pool and our very own Lower Campus football pitches. Whilst all the students displayed amazing resilience and courage not everyone came out on top. This is where our spectacular students showed their respect through sportsmanship.

Our biggest achievements came when our Year 4 students were crowned champions of the Rosinka basketball tournament. This was also mimicked by our Year 3 and 4 students who took gold in the Lower Campus Football Tournament.

To round off this amazing Festival of Sports, Lower Campus’s two Mikhails in Year 4 took first and second place in the individual Krylatskoe Tennis Tournament.
