How to Build Confidence

Research shows that confident students are more likely to succeed academically.  

In fact, several science-backed studies cite self-confidence as the number one predictor of academic achievement. Researchers found that students with greater confidence were more willing to learn and challenge themselves. They were also more motivated, resilient, and capable of dealing with adversity. 

At the International School of Moscow (ISM), our job is to build and nurture positive self-esteem in children. But what is confidence? And how does it affect academic performance?

Elbina Avdich, ISM Class of 2018 Graduate, Visits ISM

We were thrilled to hear from Elbina, one of our graduating Class of 2018, who was visiting Russia to spend time with her family over the New Year holiday.

Elbina, who graduated from ISM almost six years ago, has completed her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Biology at the University of St Andrews, and is now midway through her PhD study in the field of medicine.

Elbina enthusiastically agreed to visit her old school to speak with our Sixth Form students, and share her expertise about what to expect from university life, how to get the best results in your degree, and those important next steps after graduation.
