The theme of the latest Primary Workshop for parents, led by Ms Lebihan and Mrs. Gray, was Homework and Guided Reading. The homework aspect covered the DCIS Homework Policy and the progression of homework from year group to year group, as well as some top tips for parents to support their children with their homework. Mrs. Gray gave an overview of what Guided Reading is, what a Guided Reading session would look like in school and explained the book banding system used in our school and many other schools around the world. Home reading was also covered and ways for parents to support children to become independent and confident readers.

The presentation is attached below along with a FAQ on Guided Reading. More information can also be found in the Primary School section of the Parent Handbook (from page 40).
