07 March 2018

To kick start our new topic 'The Circus is Coming to Town', the students in Year 1 had a Circus Day at school.

They came to school dressed in Circus themed outfits and the teachers were astounded by the sea of bright colours and the crazy costumes! The children took part in a number of different Circus activities during the day. They had a go at walking the tight rope and the teachers were amazed to see them walking on stilts! The children also practised juggling and using a diablo, and in class they created their own 3D big top tents.

The highlight of our day was the visit from The Circus. The children were greeted by a stilt walker who collected their tickets. The show started with the Mad Hatter Jugglers who wowed the audience. Next up was a Cyr Wheel Act which was a very special performance. The children then enjoyed another juggling duo, a spectacular diabolo duo with some brave volunteers from the audience and finally the show closed with a giant bubble act.

After all that excitement the children are super enthusiastic to get started on their new Project this half term.
