Year 3 held a “WOW” day to celebrate their topic of the Stone Age. We began by having a parade, showing all of the Year 3 classes and teachers our fantastic outfits. The children were treated to Stone Age stories, hunting a woolly mammoth, a treasure hunt, bread baking and singing. One of the funniest things that happened was having to catch Mr Johnson who was great at acting the part of the woolly mammoth. A great day was had by all!
All of Year 3 have been learning about rocks this term. The children became rock detectives, hunting for different types of rocks around our school. They have also been finding out about the properties of rocks which led to an investigation into what job would be best for what rock in the Stone Age. The children had to investigate different types of rocks and decide which one was best for cutting, drawing and shaping.
Year 3 have been showing their fantastic creative skills by completing some amazing art work for our corridor. They have been painting cave art pictures, looking at the famous Lascaux cave art, designing pinch pots and clay tiles. They have also been painting their very own Aborigine artwork. All the teachers have been really impressed by the Year 3 children and they can't wait to see what else the children will produce in the year to come!
