Today began with a hike. We took a bus through farmland and small villages to a trail on the edge of Mount Meru. We hiked along narrow trails between crops and grazing bulls. On the final section of the trail students manoeuvred their way across a rocky stream before reaching a waterfall more than ten metres high. The fertile farmland at the foot of Mount Meru contrasted with the arid village of Nasereti seen yesterday. Students had time to paddle by the waterfall before lunch at a local shop.

Next we travelled by bus to Dolly Bush park. Here the students were to take responsibility for al aspects of our stay at the park. Students set up the tents and prepared dinner. Again, staff were impressed at the students organisation and efficiency. At the end of the day we relaxed and reflected by the camp fire.

The following morning students took all responsibility for packing up, preparing breakfast and cleaning the campsite. Next we returned to Nazareti to help the local community build a keystone garden. Each group worked with a family, students had an opportunity to talk to the family and learn about their daily lives.

After lunch everybody returned to Shamba Kipara camp for rest, reflection and a farewell disco in the evening.
