Book Week

We enjoyed another fantastic celebration of all things literary.

  • BSG Book Week 2017
  • BSG Book Week 2017

This year we invited two very famous children’s authors, Stan Cullimore and David Bedford, to work with parents, students and staff in inspiring creativity and a love of reading.  The week started with our launch assemblies, followed by a week of class based workshops based on a theme of the author’s books.  Studying a book alongside the actual author was a real privilege for us all and culminated in two very enjoyable assemblies on Friday to celebrate everyone’s achievements.

Alongside the workshops for staff, students and parents we also had several competitions taking place, including our extreme reading competition, our beloved (and highly competitive) book door competition, our story telling competition in the library, our book cover and blurb competition as well as our costume competition on the Friday.  All winners were announced on Friday during our celebration assemblies, with a full list of names to be published in next week’s bulletin.  I’d like to pass on my personal thanks to Miss Sarah Brewster, Ms. Michelle Roux, Ms. Amanda Boby, Mrs Nicola Snow and Mr. Steve Cottrell for all of their efforts in organising this fantastic opportunity for our students.
