On Thursday May 3rd, the Reception STEAM team held an assembly and a workshop for parents to present the different ways STEAM is incorporated in our learning. There was a delightful performance by the teachers representing the letters ‘S’, ‘T’, ‘E’, ‘A’ and ‘M’ from the popular children’s phonics show Alphablocks.
These letters focused on the importance of Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Maths, in all the tasks and activities that we engage in during our learning in Reception. After the assembly, the parents had an opportunity to visit the different classrooms and engage in interactive Science, Technology, Art and Maths related activities. The workshop provided the parents with a deeper understanding of how incorporating STEAM in to our daily learning has led to an increase in their child’s enthusiasm about Science, Art and Maths activities and how this will help their child develop skills for the future.
