University Degree: BSc Chemical Engineering, PGCE
I graduated with a degree in chemical engineering but my first job after graduating was working in a bank. Whilst still in the banking industry, I had a growing desire to do something that would improve the life chances of young people. In August 2005, I took the ‘leap of faith’ and moved from London to Birmingham to start my teacher training.
Teaching mathematics has been a very rewarding experience. I have had the opportunity to see young people aspire to great mathematical heights by helping them grow in confidence, tenacity and self-belief. I taught in various schools across the UK for nine years and for the past four years taught at an international school in Kampala Uganda.
I made the decision to come to China for the cultural experience, food and to immerse myself in the general way of life. Joining the British School of Guangzhou was an easy decision; I spoke to a few people who knew of the school and the impression I got after speaking to them was very positive.
