Established in 1978 as the Nick Bollettieri Tennis Academy, IMG Academy has grown into a global leader in sports education. The Year 7 residential trip was a resounding success, offering students a rich blend of educational and recreational activities. From exploring Tulou architecture to crafting bows and arrows, making food and tea, and engaging in exciting water activities, the students gained valuable skills, knowledge and memories. The trip not only enhanced their learning but also fostered personal growth and strengthened peer relationships.

Assessment in Theory of Knowledge (TOK) is conducted through a TOK Exhibition and a 1600-word TOK essay. The TOK exhibition is an internal assessment component that is marked by the teacher and moderated by the IB. It is an excellent opportunity for students to explore what knowledge is and what impacts how we know things.

Transitioning from Primary to Secondary School is a significant milestone in a child's educational journey. To ease this transition and ensure a smooth start, many schools organise transition days that allow Primary students to experience Secondary School life before the new academic year begins.

On 15 May, the Charity Committee successfully organised an International Day celebration. They put on an amazing performance and various activities for all Secondary students to enjoy. The money raised will go to Bloodline, an organisation that supports children with blood cancer.

As we continue to prioritise our students’ holistic development, we are excited to share insights into our Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education (PSHE) initiative and how we teach this crucial subject in the Primary School. PSHE is more than just another subject on the curriculum; it is a holistic approach to preparing our learners for life in the modern world by equipping them with the skills, knowledge and resilient mindset needed to successfully navigate life’s challenges and possibilities to contribute positively to society.

On Friday 26 April, Year 9 students were taken on an interactive, immersive and educational experience, in which they were able to take an A – Z look at chocolate production, taking them from bean to bar!

Year 9 students and a very brave Year 12 embarked on a new adventure on the 25 April. Accompanied by two members of the French department, they explored the Former French Concession around Fuxing Park to discover the history and some of the stories of the time when the French thought they could, perhaps settle, in Shanghai.

The BISS Ball, held at the W Hotel in Shanghai, was a dazzling affair, combining elegance with purpose. As guests entered the venue, they were greeted by the enchanting ambience that set the tone for a fantastic fundraising evening.

This year’s NAE-UNICEF Student Summit will take place in Houston, Texas, from 12 to 19 June 2024. We are thrilled to announce that the following three students have been selected to represent BISS Puxi at the summit: Tianyu, Jaeyoon and Salma!

We are thrilled to announce the launch of our new House Captains for the Secondary School. The four House Captains were carefully selected as representatives of the different elements and demonstrated values that we believe are important for our students to embody. These captains will be working closely with our House Coordinator, Mr. Hywel Ward, to organise house events, encourage participation, and ultimately create a strong sense of pride within each house.

As part of the Key Stage 3 pastoral programme, each pupil was tasked to prepare a speech on a topic they were passionate about. This activity took place during form time within the first term. Pupils chose a diverse array of topics ranging from sports and hobbies to global hot topics such as ‘Artificial Intelligence’, ‘Plastic – The issue’, ‘Invest in your Sleep’ and ‘Anxiety’.

Lights, camera, action! The 2024 BISS Film Awards (BFAs) took place on Friday 12 April, leaving the audience spellbound with the cinematic artistry showcased by our student filmmakers.

In a thrilling display of skill and determination, our D1 girls' football team won the plate competition, culminating in a memorable send-off for our seniors.
