As many of you are aware our Year 13 students have faced very adverse conditions in the run up to the May 2020 IBDP examinations. In our previous communication when the IBDP results were released, we had mentioned that with the way the IBO had standardised the grades awarded, some of our highest achieving students seem to have been most affected by downgrading to ensure that they fit world and regional statistics. We are very pleased to say that due to appeals lodged by over 700 schools worldwide, the IBO have reviewed the procedures they used to calculate grades and have now recalculated them. As a school we now feel that the revised grades issued to our students are more reflective of their abilities and in line with our expectations.
Prior to the review by the IBO some of our student had achieved some exceptional results in this year’s International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP). Following the review, I can say that many rather than some of our students have achieved exceptionally.
For the 2019/20 academic school year,
We are delighted to announce that 7 students, which represent 16% of entrants from our school achieved 40 points and above, this compares to 9% worldwide. This is the level of attainment required to gain admission to the world's elite universities, such as Cambridge, Oxford, Harvard and Stanford.
Key achievements:
Lisa Iwanaga achieved a Level 7 for Japanese. Indeed, her Written Assignment was awarded the top mark of 25/25. This is a subject she took in the 'School Supported Self Taught' category, which means it was predominantly something she learned through self-study, not in a classroom with classmates or through teacher-led lessons. It takes a huge amount of self-discipline, determination and independence to successfully complete SSST subjects, making Lisa's Level 7 all the more impressive. We are so proud of Lisa and congratulate her on this outstanding achievement.

As a family of schools, Nord Anglia schools recorded an average diploma score of 34.4 points out of 45, well above the global average score. Nord Anglia also had a 96.9% diploma pass rate in its IB schools, which is significantly above the global average of 77.8% last year. This marks seven years of our global family exceeding average scores.
