Each month, one student from both Year 12 and Year 13 are selected from IBDP subject groups based on them displaying traits from the IB Learner Profile. The IB Learner Profile represents 10 attributes valued by IB World Schools. We believe these attributes can help individuals and groups become responsible members of local, national and global communities. The winners each month receive the accolade of winning, a 100RMB gift card and their photos on display in the library for all of the school community to see.
October Winners in Languages
Head of Modern Foreign Languages Ms Linda Worsley said the following:
"For Year 12 IB Language B French, all three of my students are hard-working, motivated young ladies and they all deserved to be nominated. However, the student I would like to nominate who regularly displays the IB Profile learner trait of being 'reflective'. She is learning to form opinions on various issues in a foreign language. She makes insightful contributions on various questions and issues during class discussions. It is challenging to provide that level of reflection especially when you express your views on serious topics in a different language. Bravo Zehra!"
For the IB LP characteristic ‘Reflective’, the Year 12 Student of the month is Zehra Onen
Spanish Teacher Ms Lara Soriano said the following:
"From the very beginning in Spanish ab Initio, Carmen has dared to always go a mile further. She completes any task to the best of her abilities, and she always participates with a smile in every single class, online or in the classroom. She is never afraid of volunteer answers because she knows that making mistakes is part of the learning process. She is diligent and very kind. "
For the IB LP characteristic 'Risk'taker', the Year 13 Student of the Month is Carmen de Beer
