Principal Update 5 September 2022 - Principal Update 5 September 2022

Dear parents

I am sure you are delighted to have the students back in school for the new academic year – we are too and have had a wonderful start to the school year! Look out for weekly updates from the Head of Primary School, Nonie Adams and the Head of Secondary School, Bevan Graham which you will receive at the end of each week.

We must continue to support the authorities in control and prevention of the pandemics, so I write with the latest updates and how they affect your children.

We have been asked to continue to test students, staff and employees with three rounds of nucleic acid testing this week (September 5th - 9th) and then moving to a regular schedule of testing twice weekly from September 12th. We have been advised that we do not have to alert parents to the exact days and times of the testing but to advise you of this general schedule.

  • If you do not wish your child to be tested at school and would prefer to carry out testing privately, you need to let us know. A test must be completed at least twice a week and results sent to school. A survey with a chance to opt out of testing will be sent.
  • Those who do not have a 72-hour nucleic acid negative report are not allowed to enter the school. Community testing over the weekend may be required for students so that a test, valid within 72 hours, is always available to enter school.
  • Parents should be able to see students’ test results in the Beijing Health Kit. If this is not the case, it may be that the passport number or phone number is not correct in the school’s records. We will send out a survey so that you can update these where necessary.

We are currently unable to organise parent events in school and so will continue with Microsoft Teams meetings and off-site meetings where necessary. If you have any questions related to testing, please contact studentsurvey@bsbshunyi.com.

Yours sincerely,

Jayne Needham
