BSB Deming's Question chosen by MIT Professor!

In this year's “MIT-NAE STEAM Cellfie Life Challenge 1”, students across all Nord Anglia schools were given the opportunity to ask questions on CELLS to Dr. Yamashita, Professor of Biology at MIT.

We are very proud to announce that our BSB student Deming (John) Sun's question was one of three questions that was chosen to be answered by Dr. Yamashita in person.

Year 10 Deming's question is "Why do cells cooperate?" He is very creative and made a Minecraft video. See his video above!

In a few weeks, MIT will release a video showing Dr. Yamashita answering Deming's question. Stay tuned for more updates.

Well done to Deming!

MIT Cellfie Life Challenge

BSB students can log on Global Campus to learn more about the “MIT Cellfie Life Challenge” and watch a video by Dr. Yamashita - If we all start out as one cell dividing, why are we trillions of cells, of hundreds of different specialized types, and not just a bucket of cells?

Global Campus is Nord Anglia Education (NAE)’s exclusive online learning platform, where our BSB students learn and develop their problem-solving and creative thinking skills with students from 81 NAE schools around the world – from global STEAM activities with MIT to tackling UN Sustainable Development Goals.  https://www.unicef.org/sdgs

The MIT-NAE collaboration is a great opportunity for students at our School to participate in exciting challenges designed by leading MIT professors. Our students also participate in MIT Abstracts which are live webinars presented by PhD students at MIT who are conducting cutting-edge research in their chosen field of study. There are plans for student trips to MIT soon. MIT provides excellent materials and resources to ensure our students can explore, have fun and be curious about the world around them.
