Finally, it was time for our year 4 Play of the Week. We were so looking forward to it as we had already seen other Plays of the Week this year. We had fun getting to know our play about Pied Piper.
About the story “Pied Piper of Hamelin”
The town of Hamelin was suffering from a rat infestation in the olden days. Pied Piper, our main character, is claiming to be a rat-catcher and is employed by the mayor of Hamelin to lure the rats out of town. The mayor promised him 1000 coins. Pied Piper is playing his pipe and eventually the rats drown in the river. The mayor reneged on his promise and refused to pay him the full sum. Pied Piper is not amused! The people of the town order him out of the city borders and support the mayor. Eventually, Pied Piper returns to Hamelin in disguise and leads over one hundred children out of town into the mountains forever.
Year 4 students rehearsed the entire week, sorted costumes out, put moustaches and rat tails on. We thought on Monday that we will never be able to make it… But yes, we did it! And we were amazed that everything fell into place and we had four great performances.
A special thank you to Mrs Piotrowska who organised costumes, roles and took the lead in rehearsing with the children in the theatre.

BSB Primary STEAM Week is a unique opportunity for our students to engage in exciting, hands-on activities that combine creativity, design, and problem-solving.
Year 5’s PIAW allowed the children to bring their learning to life and transport themselves to the period of time they explored in class.
