Yuexian was 5 years old when he first learnt horse riding. He remembered that it was a World Cup competition held in Chaoyang Park he was watching that inspired him into horse riding. It was around 2017 when he started to train systematically on equestrian sport and show jumping.
Besides having to balance between schoolwork, training and time away to attend competitions, Yuexian has learnt a lot from participating in equestrian sport. He said that “The most important thing I’ve learnt is that, if you’re going to fall, you’re going to fall, there is no space for you to come back up, the only chance is to get back up once you’ve touched the ground.”
When being asked what his most unforgettable moments are related to equestrian sport, Yuexian said “That would be the first time falling off, I was crying so badly my coach wanted to just throw me out of the ring.” Another one would be the first time he jumped over 1.40M, it felt like flying and he was proud to accomplish this in front of some of the best coaches in China. These experiences have given him insights that resilience, discipline and perseverance are some of the characters needed to succeed in life.
Yuexian, we are proud of you! You have come a long way from your first fall, to getting back up time and time again, to winning numerous prestigious awards. Wishing you all the best in your future competitions!
