Between Thursday 21st September and Saturday 23rd September a group of 40 Year 11 students successfully completed a 2 day / 1 night hike and camp in the Huang Hua Cheng Great Wall area as part of their Duke of Edinburgh’s International Bronze Award. The route was up and down hills, through wooded hills, valleys, across steams and sections on the Great Wall.
The students, in groups of 7 or 6, had to orientate their way along a route by using maps, a route planner and a compass. All this the students did while carrying heavy 60 / 70 litre rucksacks. The students showed lots of stamina, motivation, enthusiasm.
They also worked well as a team and were a credit to themselves and the school. A big thank you to the Insight Adventure team and the BSB staff – Mr Chris Allen, Ms Deborah Cave and Mr Marius Krichel for assisting in the running of the weekend camp and hike.
