Our Year 12 and 13 students pursue the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), one of the most respected educational programmes in the world that prepares our students for excellent university careers ahead. Through the IBDP, we aim to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.
IB Diploma Option Week Highlights
See how our Year 11 students have been preparing with their teachers and parents to select the subjects that they will study for their IBDP in the next two years.
Monday Parents Evening
Options Week for Year 11 kicked off strongly with parents and students learning about the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP) from our DP Coordinator Mr. Peebles and Assistant DP Coordinator Dr. Kim. Parents got to see the individualised approach that BSB takes to offering a catered programme for each student entering the DP. This is done to ensure students have everything they need to be successful in the rigorous IBDP.
Thursday Guidance Session
The Year 11 Options Week continued with students having a more intimate session with Mr. Peebles and Dr. Kim about what it means to be an IB learner at BSB. Students got to learn about the role of the core, which includes TOK, CAS, and EE, has within the programme. Furthermore, they got to ask questions about the six subject groups that they get to select from to build their IB pathway for the next two years.
Options Marketplace
Year 11 students had the wonderful opportunity to talk directly with current Year 13 students and IB teachers to gain further insights. They saw work examples on the great displays and asked further questions about the different subjects.
The Options Marketplace marks the end of the Options Week, but it is just the start of the transition for Year 11 students into the IBDP. Students will need to reflect on all the information that they have heard over the week and work with their parents and the IB Leadership team to make the best selection from the wide array of options at BSB. It was great to see the students so excited about what the next two years at BSB will look like.
BSB Primary STEAM Week is a unique opportunity for our students to engage in exciting, hands-on activities that combine creativity, design, and problem-solving.
Year 5’s PIAW allowed the children to bring their learning to life and transport themselves to the period of time they explored in class.
