BSB student got the Highest GCSE Mark in Asia 2023

Mr. Bevan Graham, Head of Secondary said:

“We received the wonderful news that Geerthanan, one of last year's Year 11 students, was awarded the “Outstanding Person Learner Awards” for the “Highest Mark in Asia” for Pearson Edexcel GCSE Art and Design: Fine Art. May/June 2023. This is a remarkable achievement, one that we are extremely proud of. Congratulations to Geerthanan!”

Although his family recently relocated out of China, he remains part of our BSB family, and we wish him all the very best.”

“We would like to congratulate our GCSE Art student Geerthanan on his fantastic result in the May/June 2023 examinations! During his 2-year GCSE course, he has demonstrated incredible passion for art and a high level of involvement! His creativity, art-making skills alone with his ability to experiment with a range of materials made his portfolio prize awarding.

His rich supportive work includes studies of traditional masters and modern artists, presenting personalised ideas and results in exceptional artistic respond to the examined theme. On top of it, Geerthanan has showed high organisational skill throughout the course duration. “

The GCSE Art course is a rigorous academic Art programme set to challenge our students in both concept and art-making skills. BSB students work in a variety of media including, but not limited to acrylic, watercolour, gouache, charcoal, graphite, pastel, clay, modroc, collage, mixed media and photography. It is a wonderful foundation for IB and A level Art, which provides the necessary research and critical thinking skills for tertiary study.
