Our Year 5-6 Choir and BSB string ensemble gave such amazing performances at the British Ball 2024. What an unforgettable experience for our students and the audience! Please enjoy highlights in the above video!
The Year 5 and 6 Choir students look fabulous in their outfits that matched this year’s theme “A Night at the Races”. They have put in many hours of rehearsal since school started in August to get the music, choreography, and movement down to a very high level! They sang a medley of Queen songs, including Bohemian Rhapsody, Someone to Love, We Will Rock You, Bicycle, and more!
The Choir was headed by music teacher Ada Wang - “A remarkable achievement unfolded within Year 5 and 6 choir with nearly 60 dedicated students who, through sheer commitment and passion, utilized just ten rehearsals to prepare for an extraordinary performance. They volunteered selflessly and sacrificed their golden time to perfect a Queen Medley A cappella piece, enriched with intricate body percussion and synchronized movements.“
This year we also had a string ensemble performance which was led by music teacher Seungyoun Han. The ensemble included Year 7 Allison and Year 12 Luke on violin, Year 8 Gordon and Year 9 Sophia on cello, teachers Seungyoun Han on violin and Head of Performing Arts Daren Burns on double bass. They played a variety of music as attendees came into the ball including Amazing Grace, Jupiter, Danny Boy, and Mozart's Divertimento K136. The performances were such a great success and were enjoyed by all!
All Year 1 to 6 students at BSB participate in the Primary Instrumental Programme weekly and many students enjoyed participating in our BSB Choirs, Orchestras, Wind Band and Jazz/Rock Band. They have had many opportunities to perform in front of a large audience. This was certainly an unforgettable memory that our students will cherish. We are proud of you!
