I really like running. It is a great way to stay fit and active. It costs nothing and you can run anywhere.

I set myself a personal target to do the half marathon in Sapa whilst I am living in Vietnam. I have been training for the last 3 months. I must admit I was quite apprehensive about running on unfamiliar terrain and questioned whether I could complete the full 21 kilometres. The weather was less than encouraging as the clouds gathered and the rain fell. The route included traversing roads, mountain trails, steep ascents, and treacherous descents. The race was a mental, physical and emotional challenge. My running companions and I offered one  another support and encouragement. The moments when the clouds cleared and the beautiful landscape was revealed were very special.  I completed the race in four hours. This is by no means a ground breaking record in running terms, but is a significant achievement for me. It was an incredible experience to be part of this event.
